The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a Gothic cathedral located in Jersey City, New Jersey. As a Gothic cathedral, it represents the complexity of life and its unity under God, reflecting the inspired thought that in God's house are many mansions. The cathedral serves as a center for Catholic worship and community, inviting all who enter through its doors to experience Jesus Christ. The basilica welcomes visitors for private prayer and sightseeing during scheduled hours throughout the week and on weekends outside of Mass times. Tours are available, including guided group tours by appointment for groups of ten or more, as well as first Sunday tours following the noon Mass. The Cathedral Basilica is part of the Archdiocese of Newark and participates in the pastoral initiative We Are His Witnesses, launched by Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin to reimagine parish life and ministry.
